Black Screen Since Installing 4.2

Hi everyone,

It seems me and a few other users are having a black screen once loading a scenario. The screen will stay back for 30 seconds to a minute before showing the scenery. I know there is an issue with the PMDG 747 and a black screen but this is happening to me with default aircraft too.

I should also add that this is a complete fresh re install without any add-ons.

Hi there

I have been through those steps. There is very little left for me to do as this is a complete fresh install of 4.2. The screen just remains black for short pause before everything loads in. Never noticed in with any previous versions.

If the screen is black then the scenario begins to show up, that is intended. This indicates the scene and shaders are loading.

Can you list your hardware?

Hi Kayla,

Has this been something that has been changed with the 4.2 version? Because i didn't notice it in any previous. If anything with version 4.1 i saw the scenery appear while the loading bar was still moving.

I've been asking around to see if there are many others and i've come across 20 people so far having the same issue. It seems i'm the only one at present that has posted about it.

My hardware is: i7700K 4.5ghz, GTX 1080, 16GB DDR4 ram 3000mhz. Windows 10.

No, nothing has changed in particular to create this effect.

Do you have any addons installed? It's possible they might not have release an update for full compatibility with 4.2.

Hi Kayla,

Nope, this was right of the bat with a fresh 4.2 install. No PTA shader tweaking etc.. I've done some more testing and the length of time that the screen stays black for varies.
