HTC Vive - No VR output

Post by BernieG »

Hi,

Just installed P3D 4.1 Pro and have the latest HTC Vive software and firmware.
Am running a Windows 10 64 bit machine (latest version) on an Intel i7 4790 3.6 GHz CPU, 16GB RAM and a NVidia GTX 970 graphics card with 4GB RAM.

I have tried starting Steam VR first then P3D, starting P3D first etc, but it does not show up in P3D. I cannot click on the Enable Virtual reality menu item (seems to do nothing) and no VR window options are present in the view menu when right-clicking on the P3D screen display.

Do I need to install something else? Any advice moist welcome, as we bought this version as a VR training aid.

Thanks

Hello,

Are your graphics drivers up to date?

Did you run Room Setup in Steam VR?

Do you have any other VR systems plugged in/installed? (hardware/software)

Graphics drivers all up to date.
Did not use room set up - is set to standing (but used in a chair). Vive works fine for all other applications.

Any specific Steam VR settings I should use? Should Steam VR be on or off when P3D starts, and does P3D even use steam VR?

Hello,

In your Prepar3D.cfg, do you have the following under [STARTUP]?

LoadCorePlugins=1
LoadVirtualReality=1

Do you have an Oculus plugged in or runtime installed?

Thanks,

Where do I find that file? I can't find a Prepar3D.cfg file anywhere on the PC?
No Oculus system in the system just the HTC Vive, but do have the runtime installed to run Occuls games.

Ok found the file.
[STARTUP]
DEMO=0
STARTUP_DEMO=
LOAD_SCENARIO_TOOLS=1
LoadCorePlugins=1
LoadVirtualReality=1
EnableVirtualRealityOnStartup=0
LoadWindow=1
[PointOfInterestSystem]
CycleSetting=0

I'll try setting the VR on startup to 1

Hello,

Thank you for all the information.

And to be clear, you're not seeing any error messages at all?
