MP and internet speeds

Postby Pop » Sat Mar 11, 2017 2:47 pm

Our group have MP sessions 2-3 times a week. Members are located from western and eastern Canada, NW Florida, South Florida, NW US, and SW US.
From time to time members have "drop off" and "in game Comm" problems.
My question is if one of the online player systems IP speeds and Ping are "off" will that have any effect on the others in the MP session?

Hi Pop, most probably not, most ISP's do not allow Ping for the reason of DOS (denial of service) due to continuos pings (malicious). If this is happening occasionally you may say that's life (internet)...a slower speed and bandwith on one player could affect that player and others if he is hosting , the MP engine is constantly sending FS data to all participants and your group seems large so one slow one with a lot of changes in the data ( different manouver of AC etc) (has it ever happened in formation flight??) could cause a long delay and a disconnection.
My best guess...

Most of the time we are flying either in formation or close to each other in A2A, A2G or CV work.
