PC BUILDING FOR P3DV4.5

Postby SxPetros » Sun Nov 03, 2019 1:04 pm

Hello,

I am new to P3D and would like to ask you some info please
I am currently operating on a I77700k ,16gb of ram ddr4 and an NVDIA GTX 1050
I am thinking to buy the ASUS GTX 1660 TI in order to upgrade my gpu
How many frames am i going to use with the current GPU 1050?
Can i fly with the PMDG 737NG?

Thank you in advance

Petros

You can try to get a handle on whether or not a GPU upgrade will provide you with extra FPS by adjusting GPU-intensive settings. Example: use DSR from nVIDIA to increase your resolution even beyond what your monitor supports and check the FPS. If for example your current GPU is capable of providing you 30FPS on 1080p, increase the resolution to 1440p or even 4K and check FPS again. If they drop considerably (not only 2-3FPS), for example down to 20FPS, you can assume that a GPU with more performance than the GTX-1050 will provide you more FPS.

But be aware that this is not 100% reliable. Depending on your settings, you might still be mostly CPU bound and if this is the case, changing the GPU will not result in much higher FPS. However, with a stronger GPU, you can always invest the additional performance into image improving settings like higher antialiasing modes, dynamic lighting, better shadow settings etc.

Personally, I would say that it is worth while upgrading to a GTX-1660Ti from a GTX-1050. But do not expect wonders ;-)
