Need Advice On GPU Speed Versus GPU Ram

Hi All,

I'm in the process of upgrading my GPU. I have a limited budget. My choices lay between a GPU that is faster or a GPU that is slower but has more onboard memory. What I would like to know is what would be more advantageous to P3Dv4,faster GPU speed or a little less speed but more memory. I'm trying to decide between a 2060 Ultra, a 2070 Black or 2070 Ultra.

CPU-I7 6700K @4.8
Z170 Gygabyte G6
GPU GTX 770

Thanks in Advance,
Ed

Take a look at the EVGA GTX1660ti, it performs as well as the RTX2070 at half the price.

Thanks, I will look into the EVGA GTX 1660ti

Ed

EDIT: The 1660ti looks like it does perform as well as the 2070, however it put's me in the same predicament. 6GB of GDDR 6 versus 8GB GDDR6 on the 2070. How valuable to P3DV4 is this extra 2 GB of onboard GPU Ram?

You need at least 8 GB of VRAM to render high resolution terrain textures so it depends on how important this would be to you. For me very important but it was within my budget constraints, also important.

Thanks alot Dan. That's exactly the information I was looking for. I just needed to know that the extra 2GB of ram can be used. I'm willing to break budget in this case. I think I will be going with an 8 GB 2070.

Much appreciated,

Ed
