Crash to desktop

Post by MojoPilot »

Hello to everyone reading this.

My problem is the next one, I just bought Prepar 3D V5 yesterday and today I decided to install it, but sadly after install it and after introduced my License ID correctly I started up the simulator, when it loaded up and after around 10 seconds on the main menu the sim crashed, I do not know what to do. Thanks you very much in advance, have a great day.

Let me guess: do you have a nVidia graphics card?

If so go to the driver version 461.xx until nVidia figures this one out.

Link to nVidia's drivers:

Re: Crash to desktop P3D v5.1

I have the same problem....
The last two Nvidia drivers (466.11 and 465.89) gives a CTD in P3D v5.1
I downgrade to driver 461.92 and everything is OK again.

The funny thing is that P3D v4.5 works well with the latest Nvidia drivers.....
Only P3D v5.1 gives that problem.....

Hans,

It is only a problem with v. 5 because v. 5 uses DX12. V. 4 uses DX11 so with that you will not see the problem.

Yesterday nVIDIA released new video drivers latest update is version is 466.27 and both Prepar's v4.5 and v5.1 works fine with those new drivers!
Don't forget to empty or delete your Shaders folder, to load new Shaders in combination with the updated video driver.

C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\Shaders (for P3D v5)
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Shaders (for P3D v4)

Greetings,

Hans
