Hi James,

I'm looking for motivation to go ahead with P3DV5. Can you tell me why you believe DX12 has made P3D a winner.

Thanks,

Ed
Hi ED,
One word: performance.

In my setup of a real 737 cockpit and three 100" projectors/screens for 210 degree view using 3 P3D windows it makes all the difference in the world. I am now able to set nearly all sliders to max with nVidia Control Panel VSYNC ON and Half Refresh rate which gives my an absolutely butter smooth 30 FPS! There are only a couple airports where it drops to 26-28 FPS.

I use Sim-Avionics 737-MAX suite and their flight model, so no frame killing PMDG or anything. I also use AIG AI at 85%.

Hope this helps.

V. 4 can also take advantage of the extra cores, try this one out:

Personally, I find this works best with hyperthreading turned off.

Hi Jorgen,

Thanks very much. I'll certainly try this out.

Thanks again,

Ed

Hi James,

Sounds really good. I have a work in progress home cockpit, 738 using Prosim Avionics and their flight model. Currently using one 60 inch screen out front at 1080p. Would like to go 3 screens sometime in the future. Going to try out the link that Jorgen posted earlier as I just upgraded to an i9 10850k. I have not played around much with affinity mask.

Thanks for your thoughts on P3D5. Maybe a good Christmas present :)

Best,

Ed

I don't care too much about whether something uses DX11 or DX12.

But, when MSFS2020 has

1. No military aircraft, and

2. An airliner handles like a Cessna 172

then MSFS2020 sorta loses, you know?

Jorgen
@ JorgenSA ,

"An airliner handles like a Cessna 172"?

Which airliner in P3D are you flying for the comparison with MSFS [2020] A320?

Was your MSFS A320 test a full flight e.g., like this ?:

Read what David Womacks CFI,CFII,MEI answers this :

Seems many people still believe that MSFS2020 is/will be what its name says. It's a scenery simulator in some points of Earth - not flight at all....”

“Ok then enjoy the 2006 era graphics and horrible performance of P3D and FSX....... I’m a 2000+ hr commercial pilot and MSFS has way better flight dynamics than P3d or fsx the only sim that beats it is XP11 but the graphics of MSFS make up for that.. Now back on topic,I would report the issue to the Zendesk

You can find many topics by other real world jet pilots at the official MSFS forums that claim that the flightdynamics of the MSFS jetliners are far from realistic.
Myself I have MSFS too and if I pull the yoke in the 747/787 or A320 it jumps up instead of raising up slowly..
No “heavy” feeling at all.
To compensate you have to use the yoke in slow motion...

I agree with Jorgen.

@ Saldo ,

The comment was about comparing an airliner in P3D with one in MSFS [2020] to a Cessna.

Do you have feedback on that?

Notes:
My yoke / flaps / trim hand flying on MSFS [2020] default aircraft is ok.

Just wondering if you have submitted a trouble report to MSFS [2020] about your yoke not giving a heavy force feed back feeling?

Is there any chance that P3D v5 will utilize Google maps, or something similar to boost scenic reality? That would be a major game changer.

Non of the airliners have realistic flightdynamics. And the A320 team is trying to improve that. The 747 and 787 cannot be modified as they are premium ac which are protected against mods.

The AP of the airliners is full of issues.
I filed at ticket after patch 2 like many others.
P3D is far ahead on flightdynamics regarding jetliners.

I am waiting for v5.1 which should include improved EA and some fixes.
As I use Prosim I do not have any issues that some others experience in V5.

Which P3D airliner/Jetliner are you comparing to MSFS [2020] which is like a Cessna?

Note:
I have not had any autopilot problems on my MSFS [2020] flights.

Are you currently using MSFS [2020] patch 1950?
