Resolving the stutter problem???

Post by Snowfalcon »

OK. To start with my system meets or exceeds all of the recommended specs for a system running P3D V4.5. (see my sig)
My old Box should still be able to run P3D. MSI 970A-G45 Board, AMD FX8320, 32GB DDR3, GTX1050TI 4GB. My FPS even at Busy airports even with the FSLabs Airbuses is usually 20 or higher so no FPS issue

Still I get the stutters (sim paused for a micro second) at busy airports and on approaches. I run the following.
ORBX global
ORBX Vectoer
GSX
AS4
PF3
PMDG 777/747
FS Labs A319/320

This has been a known issue with P3D and FSX forever why can't one of the coders fix this. Sucks when I just built this system to run P3D V4 and this problem rears it head yet again. Sorry I shouldn't have to Overclock my system to get this program to run as it should. I (and all customers)should be able to take the recommended specs at face value. One shouldn't have to mortgage the house to by a PC that will run this sim.

In the mean time is there a setting that can be adjusted to fix this. Can somebody from Lockheed Martin finally find the root cause for this and either fix it or come up with a work around please.

On your new PC ($$$) are your FPS well above 20 (old pc) now ?

I had this issue until I Uninstalled Ultimate Live traffic.

Do you have that installed perhaps?

New PC runs 20fps or better even at crowded airports. I run AIG(Alpha India Group) for AI traffic

What is the clock rate of your Ryzen 2700X?

Let me guess ....you're running a 4k monitor? I'm guessing because I don't see it in your specs. -fundamentally important, no?

Look, you buy a boat load of addons and want to bring it home on a paddle board? ...C'mon man!
-I went the boat load of hardware and brought the addons home on a paddle board route -took the time to enjoy the scenery.

You want a smooth experience with your compliant hardware ...run P3D native with the default settings.

Your hardware will run P3D smooth, just have to lighten the load. And yes, there's a learning curve.

Clock rate is at a 4.1 right now

I'm running a 1920x1080 32" Monitor Radeon FreeSync compatible at native resolution on a display port cable.

I do have a RAM problem with my system where my RAM is not running at full speed(New RAM is ordered) Turning on D.O.H.C. shows correct speed and timing in BIOS but then system won't post.

In short, with those add-ons you need to get on the high side of 4.5 GHz.

The new memory will help some, but the bottom line is that you need further overclocking.

Also, although this will not do much, but every little bit helps: check with your motherboard manufacturer to see if a BIOS upgrade is available. With an Asus motherboard the upgrade is usually easy.

Thanks for the fast reply. I have the latest BIOS.
Is there a setting that I can change/turn down? In a flight from BIKF to EGPH right now. FPS is 30-45 on ground at BIKF and 42-65 in the air right now. FPS is not an issue but those little pauses get annoying. I have frame rate set to unlimited.

Actually, try to limit the frame rate to 25 or 30... your eye cannot see more than those anyway, and when you look at a TV, the picture doesn't stutter, does it?

The TV picture frame rate is half of your local AC line frequency. By limiting the frame rate, you allocate more time for the processor to do more than generating pictures.

And you can always set it back to unlimited.

Jorgen,

Apparently Ryzen CPUs are sensitive to RAM speed more so than Intel.
