Stutters Whilst Flying Over Water

Postby Grimers » Sun Apr 14, 2019 10:34 am

Hi all,

I've been experiencing this issue for quite a while now, and after trying many troubleshooting techniques (including updating to v4.5), I cannot seem to fix this fairly annoying stuttering issue that seems to occur.

This issue occurs with or without addon scenery that I can deactivate (I can deactivate Orbx but not addons like FSDT and UK2K from the Scenery Library). I have a fairly good rig, and this stuttering issue doesn't occur whilst flying over land. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue.

Please let me know if you require any more information, files etc.

Thanks,

Will

Now you mention it, I have noticed something like this too.

I don't think it does happen over land - but I will have to check next time I fly.

Is yours a sort of reasonably rhythmic stutter when flying over water?

I have my monitor set to 30Hz with Vsync/triple buffering on, but I have noticed the last couple of flights (approaching Hong Kong and Sydney from quite a way out, before it's loaded the scenery) some stutters. My water is set to low detail.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm experiencing.

I have had this as well , using a complex Add on like say the Ifly 737-747 out of EGHQ runway 30 and about 8-10 miles straight out over the water it starts to stutter quite bad .
had it with V4.3 and 4.4

I see the same thing over the western coast of south Florida (south of and well away from Naples...basically Everglades). As the airplane approaches the coast from the east, I go from a smooth 60 FPS to jerking and stuttering with FPS in the teens. There is nothing there. Nothing added-on other than the basic ORBX Global, LC, and Vector, of which there seems to be very little in the vicinity. As soon as I travel back to the east a few miles the FPS recovers to normal.

It's as though I am approaching a highly detailed city like Miami or Atlanta with Autogen on a very high setting. But there is nothing there.

It is very repeatable if the devs need some data......

Yes, it sounds like many people are having the same problem, so we would appreciate it if LM can take a look at this please! :)

just an idea, did you try stopping ship & boat traffic? Maybe this could help finding source of the problem.

I have not see any problems when flying over water (P3Dv4.5 or previous versions).

Maybe someone could post a video of the problem.

Is this a freeware/payware airport in your setup?

If you havent updated your default Nav aids and Airport ICAOs from https://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html it will be EGDG

I do not make changes to the P3D installed navaids or airports.

Thanks for confirming EGHQ being absent from the default P3D database is correct.

Any update on this? Still getting the same issue and it's really annoying. I'm using low water detail and all traffic is off.
