I downloaded on Saturday, so it's whatever version was current then. No add-ons, just trying to get it going. Windows 10 Home 64 Build 16299.192. Dell XPS-8920, i7-7700 3.6 Ghz, 24 GB RAM, Radeon RX 480 8GB. 256GB M SSD for OS, 500GB SSD for Sims, which is where P3D is installed.

We have a list of general debugging steps that may help track down the issue:

performed the following as per requested... No Joy!!
Delete the following generated folders/files. This will result in any add-ons being removed/disabled.
%PROGRAMDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4
%APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4
.
Reset all Nvidea settings to default without success.
Also checked in Windows Event Viewer regarding why P3D closed. There are no entries for crashing.
As mention before, this is a CLEAN install. No Add-Ons what so ever.

Thanks for pursuing this. Don't have the time or energy at the moment to do it. Thought I was buying something that would work out of the box.

thats easy.
double click the P3D Desktop Icon.
Wait for load.
using the default F22, and location. No weather modifications.
wait for a/c and scenery vto completely load.
click on "Options" and of the following menu items:
General
Grafics
Controls
Any of the above will result in a black screen and anyhwere between 18-45 sec will close P3d with no reason as to why.
I had tried to change install locations from D:\Prepar3D to C:\ProgramFiles\PrePard3D
changed folder permissions, run as admin. All resulted in the same conclusion.
BUT.
after changing the folder permissions to "Authenticated Users". I was now able to see the crash event in the Event Viewer.
Removed Authenticated Users resulted in NO Crash Event Registered in Event Viewer\Windows Logs\Application

Pretty much the same for me. The first couple of times I was getting the sending things to Microsoft box, but that has stopped, just goes back to the desktop.

Did you start noticing this after a recent Windows update? Also do you see this with other UI screens or only the settings menu?
