P3D4.1 Huge and intermittent drop of fps

Post by supersym »

Hello,
I meet a huge drop of fps 30 seconds after starting any flight. If I swich to full screen fps returns normal a few minuts and drop again. I swich to windowed view and it returns normal a few minuts...
Only leaving task manager in background maintiens fps normal.
My OS is Windows 10.
What can I do ?
Thanks

Why are you using the Task Manager during your flight?

As I said, it's the only way I found to avoid the drop of my fps

How did you happen to discover the Task Manager fix on your setup?

I saw that when I switched to any applications launched with P3D, while I was searching what it' was wrong, I refound my fps.
I guess it's the mess with the priority of program in OS, or something like that... Indeed p3d falls at 25 % insteed of the usuall 100 %
So I tried to leave Task Manager in background.
But I have to fly a longer time I did for be sure...

When your FPS drops .. how much from XX FPS to ?? FPS?

Does it remain at the low FPS for the rest of the flight ot is the drop only for a very short time?

How many monitors are you using ?

Are you still using SLI?

I tested .. no problems here with or without Task Manager running.

drop from 60 to 15, sli or not sli, it remains during a few minutes in the fly, but I did'nt wait a long time before launching tasm manager. I use one monitor 4K, G-Sink, with or without NVI. Oh ! I didn't try without G-Synk... I have to try too without game mode in Windows 10.

I have Huge FPS drops also, depending on my testing setup:

Windowed Mode, Full Screen Mode, Undocking panels, moving 2D panels on monitor one or moving 2d panels to my second monitor.

During testing FPS could be locked (normally at 20 for me) or FPS of Unlimited.

The FPS could go from 110 using default aircraft or 60 FPS using PMDG737 to 2 FPS, or 10 or 18 ... it varies.
My eyes have a very hard time seeing the exact value.

But, the drop in FPS only lasts for 1 second .. then returns to the previous value (110 or 60 e.g.).

During a normal flight I am not moving panels around so I never see a FPS problem.

I only notice any FPS drop when first setting up for a flight if I want a 2D panel on monitor #2 during a test.

And then I only notice it if I am displaying a FPS counter ... which is only done while I am testing that function.
