[RESOLVED] Prepar3D cannot run without a valid scenery.cfg, Please Uninstall and Reinstall Prepar3D
I am getting a cannot run with out a valid scenery.cfg please uninstall and reinstall.
I have done so multiple times. I have installed to different locations I cant figure out where the file is supposed to be to even check if it is there. The error is pretty useless. And these forums wont let you search for the error because they complain the words are too common. which is exceedingly annoying as i cant search for the error.
Windows 10 64 bit.

Hello Daeglan
Can you see These 3 Entries in your Control Panel ?
Can you see these 17 Default Yellow Folders in your Core Prepar3D folder ?
=============
Repair the Component Installers, maybe this will solve your Issue
Disable all Antivirus Software first
Navigate to your Prepar3D v3 Download folder, In this order..........
1) Right Click on Install_Client.msi Click Repair
2) Right Click on Install_Content.msi Click Repair
3) Right Click on Install_Scenery.msi Click Repair

Hello
Just to confirm....
You have sufficient space on your C Drive Yes ?
When you originally Unzipped the Prepar3D download did you use the Windows built in Extract utility ?
Use something like 7zip to Extract the Zipped folder, The 7zip Tool will confirm if your download is good or not.
---------
Maybe try again..........
First confirm your Download is good using the 7zip Tool, If not download Prepar3D v3 again using a Download Manager
(1) Uninstall\Deactivate Prepar3D v3 again, and Restart you computer.
(2) Install Prepar3D v3 keeping note of the 5 points in the link provided

Re: cannot run with out a valid scenery.cfg
yes i have done all that. Multiple times. If i knew where the file was supposed to be i would check to see if the file is there and what it says. I have no idea where the file is supposed to be. As I have told others here I do IT. I know how to do these things and did that before even contacting you.
Re: cannot run with out a valid scenery.cfg

As MHargrove posted your Scenery.cfg file is located below
Local Disk (C:) ► ProgramData ► Lockheed Martin ► Prepar3D v3 - Scenery.cfg
To find these folder, Insure the box is Ticked for Show hidden files, folders and drives in File Explorer Options
Navigate to this location and see if you have this Prepar3D v3 folder ?

Re: cannot run with out a valid scenery.cfg
Have you tried deleting (or renaming) your scenery.cfg file and then run P3D?
As far as I know, it will generate a default scenery.cfg file on startup.
Does that work?
Michael.

Re: cannot run with out a valid scenery.cfg
I have tried redownloading. And uninstalling and reinstalling. I have yet to find the scenery.cfg file. It is not in the folder you guys tell me to look. So I can't delete or rename it as I can't find it.
If it is supposed to create the file it is not doing so. I have tried installing in multiple locations with no positive results. I am getting rather tired of trying to troubleshoot this problem via the forums. As it is proving to be slow and completely ineffective. I don't have time to spend weeks trouble shooting a problem one post a day.
