Overlap undocked 2D panels fail

Post by alihor »

Here are my specs:
P3D Version : Prepar3D_v3_Academic_3.4.22.19868
WIN7-PRO 64
Airbus FSL A320-P3D
further configuration see in attached PDF (could not attach !!)

I observed a strange behavior on my extended Display/Monitor with two 2D undocked panel windows.
I moved the Overhead Panel and the Captains MCDU panel undocked to my display #2. Both are overlapped due to their size I need.

When I click on the top window frame of the Overhead Panel this panel comes into foreground and the MCDU panel is behind and partially hidden.

BUT now I click on any Overhead button and instantly the MCDU panel comes into foreground. So I couldn’t activate any button on the Overhead.
A bad workaround is to put both panels side by side with reduced sizes.

All other default aircrafts in P3D do not show this behavior with the overlapping panels.

See also attached PDF.

It works properly in the FSX version but not in the P3D version.

Please help. Thanks

Alhard

"All other default aircrafts in P3D do not show this behavior with the overlapping panels."

this does not seem to be a P3D problem , have you asked FSL?...

Yes I asked FSL.

Here is their response:

Alhard,
I know it's a P3D problem because I do recall seeing a comment about it in the P3D forums (that they will be fixing it).

The comment was in the private beta forum and I can't even be discussing it, to be honest, as it's part of NDA.

Hi all and Lockheed Martin P3D support,
Please send me a statement about my issue with the "overlap panels failure".
It would help me a lot if I can see some statements in these P3D forums.

Shall I rquest a refund by LM or by FSL for this faulty P3D version?

See my specs below.

Thanks

There is a config option to disable the z-ordering feature of undocked panels. If you set PANELS_ALWAYS_ON_TOP=0 in the [PANELS] section of the Prepar3D.cfg does this resolve your issue?

Hi Rob, thanks for this advise. Now it works fine with the panel overlapping.

Where can I find a documentation of the Prepar3D.cfg parameters?

I studied and documented in the past 10 years all the FSX parameters, so now I should do this for the new Prepar3D.cfg parameters again.
