Modification of wind layer through simConnect

Hello,
I want to dynamically change the Wind at different levels using simConnect by sending a METAR (using extension)through the simConnect_WeatherSetObservation API.
When I call this function, a default Wind configuration already exists with 3 layers. The given METAR seems to be taken into account because other parameters (such as visibility etc) change, but Wind does not change. When I try to modify Wind layer through the prep3d weather interface, I first have to remove existing layer, else, I get an error mesage about covering layer...
Can this be the reason why I can't change Wind layer ?
if yes, is there a way to delete existing Wind layer through simConnect ?
