Cruising altitude to ground perspective while flying

I wanted to ask any dev on here to chime in about something I have noticed. This issue goes back all the way to the FS2004 days. For some reason, it feels like the ground is very close when flying in the upper flight levels. FL400 doesn’t look like FL400 when at altitude. It looks more like I’m flying at 10,000ft. Everything from the ground, to the low level cumulous clouds just seem really compacted lateral wise. In real life at 40,000ft you’re so far away from the surface that the clouds just look like small popcorns scattered across the land but in P3D they’re literally like right there. I can’t explain it but it just seems like the atmosphere is not very realistic. Do you guys know what I’m talking about?
