Re: Budget Build For P3D V4.5

Unless a canadian dollar is worth .50 cents in New York, then I think you're way overpaying for the performance. Your CPU choice is horrible if buying new today, and the cost of that OLD motherboard is UNBELIEVABLE (old 4core i7 7700k for $475, ASUS Prime z270 $389). Since, I don't think you are the...

Re: New PC Build Review

I'd suggest you open a brand new thread for build advice, then copy/paste your last post into it. Make sure to include EVERY add-on program feature you MIGHT want to utilize for importing into the sim: weather, air-traffic, ground traffic, lighting, shading, ATC, Terrain, et cetera .....Also, includ...

Re: internet adapter problems

Swap an old LAN card into the case and confirm the problem persists. My suspicion would be a component failure somewhere on the circuit. Go find the box of old hardware cards from the days before every motherboard had an integrated NIC. [NIC = "Network Interface Controller," which I'm using intercha...

Re: New Build results

Make sure you go to Samsung website to download drivers for the SSD.

Otherwise it will run great, like every other SSD, but you won't get the advertised performance bonus you paid extra for the Samsung for without the custom Samsung drivers

Re: 2019 build for p3d v4.5- here I. go again!!

The Z-170 series of boards are soon approaching 5yrs of age. Consumer thermal pastes on the CPU can dry-out and set over time. As paste crystallize, the constant throttle up to high-heat then back down to room-temp nature of the CPU will cause some crystals to crack. So it's often recommended around...

Re: 2019 build for p3d v4.5- here I. go again!!

+ RidgeandGable I'm glad to hear it's performing well. I was disappointed when AMD's Vega64 & RadeonVII failed to catch on and shine with P3D, where I had once predicted that their raw compute power that AMD had put into the systems would have shined for all the long chain of butterfly-effect like p...

Re: New PC Build Review

when talking about the new AMD Ryzen processors: AMD's latest matches or outperforms Intel's offering when locking the CPU's at the same frequency. In fact, the site I used as a reference ran Cinebench R15 benchmarks at 3,5GHz, and it shows that the 3700X has a IPC of almost 8% faster than a i9-990...

Re: P3D4.5 HF1 CPU Overclock

Stable overclock speeds can be application specific. A clock + pwr combination that's stable when running one application or benchmark may not be stable when applying the exact same profile to run another application or benchmark. I guess that's the most nuanced caveat of playing the silicon lottery...

Re: Improve VR accuracy?

. First time I put the 5K on, I was blown away with the VR stuff. You'll need some pretty good horespower to enjoy to it's fullest. Best, David Horsepower, I can build for. But, VR Headset reviews from consumers who actually buy the product are hard to come by. Especially so at the high-end, and fo...
