Re: Why are major 3rd Party Addon Makers breaking the SDK guidelines
It seems that some of these developers are having to still work around flightsim quirks that have been there for a loooooong time. For instance, many find it necessary to place a BGL file into <P3DRoot>/Scenery/World/Scenery in order to adjust airport elevations. It is not necessary to place a BGL ...

Re: Adding Dted height information to scenery
Depending where your efforts are focused, there might not be much difference in later mesh source and what was used within FSX/P3D. Where are you seeing little or no difference?

Re: Custom airport lights
If there already is a way to do this without any compromises or drawbacks, then please correct my original statement and point me to the relevant documentation. From first glance, it seems like this has already been implemented via the 'SODE system', which is a third-party developed method to displ...

Re: Adding Dted height information to scenery
By the term 'imagery' are you referring to photo based scenery textures? If so, they don't carry an elevation parameter, it will only lay on top of the terrain (mesh) which is a separate element handled through the Resample compiler in the SDKs.

Re: Trees around runway thresholds
The same file for FSX (Lumberjack?) would still work in P3D or at least, there's no reason that I'm aware of that would preclude it's working.

Re: Scenery updates in next version?
Hoping somebody some day will fix this stuff. Reminds me of a politician's line from way long ago, "If not you, who? If not now, when?" "Somebody" retired a long time ago and left a void in the individual requests department. Because I'm sure modeling Georgia Tech's stadium was ...

Shift + O, not zero, will toggle mouse view on and off. I also reset the controls to assign mouse view onto my MS Force Feedback joystick. No pain on my end...

Winter is just around the corner for the Southern Hemisphere, so it's going to get dark earlier.

Which airplane? Some developers seem to disable/reassign the F12 keystroke, for what ever their reasons might be.

Re: mesh specs
A little late, but... It will depend where you are for the mesh resolution numbers. A large part of the planet is at 608m spacing, LOD=6. Others areas that are more frequently visited can range from 76m to 38m, LOD=9/10. Most of the planet can be improved with add on mesh, either pay or free wares. ...

Re: Restoring Default Scenery
The obvious question is what other scenery do you have installed? You've missed that part! There's no reason why the LPMA addon wouldn't work, to the best of my knowledge, unless something else has messed with your files. I *think* I recall another addon taking the default file for the LMPA area and...

Re: Airport error
I love looking at things like this, in a warped manner of things termed "Mysterious Microsoft Manipulations". The building is a VOR transmitter that sits at the airport. In loading a background image to compare, the building is at the correct location and the airport itself is misplaced to...

Re: Tessilation and deliberate GPU melt
Here is my semi-educated guess. If you go back to the area and enter slew mode and then go along the visual distortion you should see that the path is either N/S or E/W in nature. Where I have seen this occur is in an area where there are two different mesh sources and they are of differing resoluti...

Re: Elevation problems P3D v3,2,3
Default elevation is 711 feet (right or wrong) and that's reflected in your screen capture. You can check at one of the main flight simulation libraries to see if you can find a revised set of files that will alter the elevation and the terrain around the airport. There is also commercial software a...

Re: No FSX, only Prepar3d v3. Can I install SBuilderX314?
Yes. I have v2.5 of P3D installed. But my SBX install has always had FSX 'there', as there are files copied from FSX during installation. I wonder if you can use one of the registry tools and set up a dummy FSX situation that will allow SBX to install and function?
