Re: Jetways partly missing

The current version of the free Airport Design Editor from Scruffyduck does the same in P3D as you are used to in FSX, plus it adds numerous other tools for simplified airport editing. Sometimes the jetways are assigned different levels of scenery complexity. Perhaps some are missing because you hav...

Re: New System Planning SSD

Ok, I ordered 1 M.2 drive (2 TB) now and will use this for OS and on a second partition P3D4. The rest of programs and data comes on SATA drives. Thanks for the info jpfx! Why a partition? My OS and P3D share the system drive.... just don't use the default Program Files path. I use C:\P3D\P3Dv4 as ...

Re: IFR flight plans for GA training

As a instrument rating holder for a long time, may I suggest you never use the default ATC feature in any kind of pilot training. It is designed more as a toy than a simulation of the very complex world of ATC. Perhaps a 3d party ATC addon might be a solution for you?

Re: gpu load low with GTX1080Ti

I saw a big jump in performance when I went from the 4790K to the 6700K. Now I think the best bang for buck out there is the 8700K. The ninth gen is out now but I'm not seeing anything that compels the additional expenditure. RAM use is irrelevant unless you don't have at least 8GB. Your CPU loading...

Re: xml scenery files

There is pretty good support in the Orbx forum, I think that is the best place to get a grasp of their library insertion point. The Vector tool does not arrange any scenery order, it does scan scenery to find elevation data to identify locations that should be excepted from the application of Orbx e...

Re: How to disable certain controllers without disconnecting them.

Sounds like you are relying on P3D to automatically identify and assign axis. This works for simple setups but you should take advantage of the flexibility given you by the Controls UI. Each time you export a controller configuration that is the same as saving it. It would have been clearer if they ...

Re: gpu load low with GTX1080Ti

I know it seems logical that the GPU loading is an indication of how much of its capacity is used but it's not. Just as frame rate is not a measure of quality. My 1080Ti SLI runs around 24% GPU loading with up to 9GB used (with the terrain texture exponent set to 10). I have the frame rate locked at...

Re: What is better: Ryzen 5 2600, I3 8100 or I5 7400

I have a ASUS GTX1080 with 8GB memory and I'm very happy with it. When the new TI version became available the prizes went down. I use a aged i3770K processor overclocked at 4.3 GHz and till now I'm pretty happy with this combination. But now, the 9th generation processors coming I think about buyi...

Re: New System Planning SSD

Hi Dan: The M.2 form factor has been around a few years and is more of a form factor specification although it does move the I/O device off the SATA ports to the faster PCIe lanes. I have a NVMe SSD in the M.2 forum factor that I use for system drive and P3D. All scenery and addons for P3D are on a ...

Re: Graphics card help

The LM system requirements are here: https://www.prepar3d.com/system-requirements/ Your CPU is at the low end of minimum requirements, but will be okay if you don't push the sliders to the right on the settings pages. Any DX11 capable (most all are now at least DX11) with at least 2GB VRAM will work...

Re: Computer hangs and screen blacks out

Follow the troubleshooting guide LM has pinned to the top of this forum.

In my experience, the most common problem with hung or failed P3D starts are addons. Things such as multiple or incorrect addon entries in the add-on.cfg or add-on.xml are common problems.

Re: Texture_Size_Exp & Long Frames

- in my case, I set it to 31. I've done some testing using 29, 30 and 31. For my rig, 31 seems to run the smoothest. I do also keep vsync on in sim, which I think helps. That is important, every configuration may have a different "sweet spot," I run without VSync and use a frame rate lock of 24 fps...

Re: Prepar3d 4.3 CTD with Active Sky for P3D v4

Try with the 3d party AV program removed. Windows Defender provides protection without the false positives that many AV programs do to excess. Then if you continue to get ntdll.dll errors you have ruled out the AV as the problem and you can look for the one of hundreds of things that can create this...

Re: Prepar3D V4 Computer Configuration Help

I don't think you'll have any problem, in my opinion the 3GB VRAM is on the minimum side but as long as you don't push the sliders to the right it will be good.

Double check your RAM, I think you meant 16 GB DDR4. Regardless, anything at or above 8 GB works well.
