Steve - Please ignore the above, I just realized there are other P3D-related data in the Registry that still won't be fixed. I'd go ahead with the reinstall..............Doug

'Morning Steve. The problem is that you are missing the Registry entry for P3D (and also any installed add-ons that may have updated the Registry) due to the Windows reinstall. There are a number of freeware programs around that will fix the Registry pointers for FSX and P3D. Before reinstalling you...

With an external HDD the initial load times will be quite a bit longer but once the sim is loaded I don't think there will be much, if any, noticeable difference in performance. To add the FSX C172 to P3D simply copy the C172 from the FSX Airplanes folder to the P3D Airplanes folder. Nothing else needs to be done. The gauges are already there. I've used the FSX C172 in every version of P3D, including v4, and can safely say that it works just fine..........Doug
