Re: Implementing an externalsim physics module

The SimObject API is currently the supported way of replacing the simulation. At this time there is not really a way to separate the physics (aero, engines, ground reaction) from other systems such as engines and electrical in the native aircraft simulation. You can also look at the Subsystem sample...

Re: Controllable spool rate

A previously undocumented capability is to configure your fuel_flow_gain in the aircraft.cfg to be a function of engine speed (N2 for straight turbines, N1 for turboprops). It might look something like this... [TurbineEngineData] fuel_flow_gain.0 = 00.0, 0.011 fuel_flow_gain.1 = 25.0, 0.011 fuel_flo...

Re: Time Errors

P3D has a database that provides specific timezone data for the most popular areas (e.g. North America, Europe). For other areas, we default to standard time zone increments every 15 degrees of longitude. Unfortunately Hawaii and Alaska are areas in which the default differ from reality. We are work...

Re: Setting Bank Angle in Autopilot

Hi Kyle, Unfortunately that is not a supported capability of the core AP. Desired pitch and bank values are determined by higher level modes, e.g. NAV, Heading, Altitude. In other words you can't replace the intermediate logic that sits between the high level modes and the low level aileron and elev...

Re: v4.2 Time Zones Update Question

You should install both. The core fix contains a fix for the default time zones across the globe - basically every 15 degrees of longitude. The .bgl includes data overrides for the most common areas (e.g. North America, Europe, etc..) where actual time zones do not align perfectly with the default 1...

Re: Autopilot in Helicopter

Thanks for the feedback on the AP, guys. I like the idea of more resolution on the Altitude Hold. It's currently just using the same logic as the airplane's for that. I'll see what we can do going forward. With respect to the yaw damp, keep in mind that it is possible to induce oscillation by drivin...

Re: RE: GMT / ZULU Time and Timezone Corrections!

We've made a few updates and fixes regarding time zones. You should find them in your next update.

Thanks for the feedback and input,
Mike

Re: An event setting and a data writing problem

Hi,

1. Setting pushback speed is not really supported. It's a fixed value that can't be overridden.

2. For the enum, try SIMCONNECT_DATATYPE_INT32 instead of the FLOAT64.

Hope this helps,
Mike

To help your steering issues, make sure you have Auto Rudder turned on if you are using a 2-axis joystick:

Re: Add airports/weather stations with active AWOS/ASOS/ATIS transmission for in flight weather briefings

You will want to start with SDK documentation on how to add facility data to the runtime database: http://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv4/LearningCenter.php Go to /World/Scenery for information on file formats, schema, and compiler. Scroll down to the Facility Data / Airport and COM section for information s...

Re: INC and DEC jumps by factor of 10

That is expected behavior that attempts to make setting certain gauges easier. For some inputs such as the heading bug, the system detects that you are rapidly clicking and assumes you want a big change. Click slower and you get the single increment. Without the larger jumps it takes a long time to ...

Re: TACAN navaids behaviour

None of the default aircraft is equipped with a true TACAN receiver. Nor does the navaid database include any TACAN-only stations. The SDK provides for the ability to implement these in private solutions. Any aircraft that display tacan are simply doing the translation into a conventional VOR. Hope ...

Re: getting wind forces and environmental conditions for external engine

The following methods in the IBaseObjectV400 interface should give you most of this information: virtual HRESULT GetSurfaceInformation (__out SurfaceInfoV400 &SurfaceInfo, __in const FXYZ *pvOffsetFeet) PURE virtual HRESULT GetWeatherInformation (__out WeatherInfoV400 &WeatherInfo) PURE Hope this he...
