Re: Live weather program wanted for P3DV4

Look at OpusFSI -- it has excellent weather injection.

Re: Autofill desktop

That looks perfectly normal to me, but I'm a goldfish. :-)

How many monitors do you have, and how are they configured? The autofill option, to the best of my knowledge, is intended for multiple independent monitors (i.e., with Nvidia Surround or Radeon Eyefinity turned OFF).

Re: I/O Interface Question

Ed's short answer about the referenced product is correct. I'll offer a longer answer that maybe contains a little more hope for you. There are several Arduino models (the Leonardo, for example) that can run the well-known ArduinoJoystickLibrary (https://github.com/MHeironimus/ArduinoJoystickLibrary...

Re: GPU Upgrade or CPU

... It seems to me that if I am getting great frame rates on one monitor, my problem is not the CPU but rendering. ... That's an invalid conclusion, especially if you're placing undocked windows on the other two monitors. The CPU has to do a significant amount of additional work to drive those extr...

Re: P3D and networked computers

If I recall correctly, you can use the so-called "multichannel" feature that's in Prepar3d Professional Plus to network one or more clients, and I believe that the clients (when running with MC enabled, a command-line option) don't require any additional licenses. You may have to take a couple of de...

Re: Hardware specs question

It's a pretty healthy-sized download for the full installation package -- about 12 GB.

Re: Need a GPU

A GTX 970 is still a decent card (it's the predecessor to the current GTX 1070). If your monitor only supports FreeSync, though, you might want to consider an AMD Radeon card if/when you upgrade. FreeSync (AMD) and GSync (Nvidia) are pretty much the same feature, but aren't cross-compatible.

Re: Do we really need more than 8GB for P3D V4

The term "CPU-bound" means that the CPU is the element of your system that is preventing any further improvement in performance of the simulation (or more in general, of whatever task you're trying to do). Adding more memory, a faster graphics card, a bigger/faster disk won't help. Finding a way to ...

Re: Hardware specs question

In my opinion, your PC is fine. Your GPU is a bit dated now, but the application will run. You will not be able to max out our graphics settings, but with some fiddling you should get acceptable performance.

Re: Do we really need more than 8GB for P3D V4

You're comparing apples and oranges. A GPU's memory is completely unrelated to the CPU's memory and is used for totally different things.

You will eventually want a LOT more than 8GB of memory in your simulator PC and yes, it will make a difference.

Re: 4k PC monitor or 4k TV?

It looks like a fine monitor to me. Be aware, though, that FreeSync and Gsync are different "products" though they do the same thing. FreeSync is AMD/Radeon, GSync is Nvidia and they don't cross over. That LG monitor will work fine with an Nvidia card, but the FreeSync feature won't work.

Re: Monitors

I'd encourage you to go with the GTX 1070 card (and there is pretty much no point at all in buying the 1080 Ti card right now -- it's massive overkill).

Re: Multichannel and road traffic

You might experiment with WideTraffic from the http://www.wideview.it/wideview.htm site. It's separate from the Wideview plug-in and it will synchronize road traffic in a networked setup (I know that for sure; I use it). It also is designed to synchronize AI airplane traffic, though, and I'm not sur...
