Re: Determine Olson Land Class at a Location

Thanks Rob. It's nice at least to be able to stop banging my head on this brick wall!! But is there any other way of getting at it? TmfViewer must use location. Is that a possible "in", I wonder ?

Re: Get ground elevation (altitude) at arbitrary coordinates

In that case, set a different minimum - say -2000 feet. For what I wanted the info (ground clearance over mountains while flying) 0 - 40000 works just fine. It's just a case of suck it and see for you, I suggest. The data is pretty easy to use once you've got it. It just takes a bit of thinking abou...

Re: Setting The Sim on Ground Flag via Simconnect

If by setting "the sim" on the ground, you are referring to the current vehicle (aircraft, typically) then - yes. It's pretty straightforward. You just need to use a SIMCONNECT_DATA_INITPOSITION structure with the OnGround flag set to 1. You can send the required initposition via a call to...

Re: Get ground elevation (altitude) at arbitrary coordinates

You can definitely use SimConnect_RequestGroundInfo. The vertical heights in the bounding box are a bit confusing, I agree. Documentation does not say whether the heights are asl, agl - or what. I have assumed asl, and always set the minimum to zero, and maximum to 40, 0000 feet. Unless any new moun...

Determine Olson Land Class at a Location

Hi, I'm developing an app in which I need to determine the land class type at a given map lat/long location. Using SimConnect, I can call RequestGroundInfo, and from the SIMCONNECT_DATA_GROUND_INFO datas returned, I can get the surface type. That gives me an approximation to Olson Land classificatio...

Re: Can you install hotfix without uninstaling P3D v4?

Re: Can you install hotfix without uninstaling P3D v4?

This isn't at all clear to me either. I was expecting to find a Hotfix in my downloads section, but all that's there is a complete 12Gb .zip file. Usually we get links to all the parts. So - do we download that, extract it and just load a part - or do we need to do a complete reinstall in order to u...

Re: Installing Hot Fix with Addons

I've got lots of Orbx scenery, and have got my sim running very smoothly. I've got a good system, and run P3D on a big 4kTV. Frame rates are generally pretty good (>30 usually, now) and no stutters worth mentioning. I'm happy with it after months of "trying to get there" I just installed H...

I'm not sure how I missed that, because I've read the spec so many times I could almost quote it by heart!. Problem solved !!

Re: Syntax for a Volume Drive

That's not what it says in the documentation. http://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv2/LearningCenter/LearningCenter.php >Prepar3D SDK > Environment SDK > Scenery Configuration File I quote: The local path to the scenery files. When using a local path the scenery is read directly from the path shown. Various f...

Re: Syntax for a Volume Drive

Sorry, I should have been a bit more complete with my last message, but I pressed send too quickly. For example, I have a Bluray drive whose volume label is "Bluray". The root folder on the drive is "Scenery", etc etc... If I try to point to an entry in scenery .cfg like: Local=[...

Syntax for a Volume Drive

This should be ridiculously easy, but I cannot get it to work at all...... What's the syntax for using a Volume path, in the scenery.cfg file? The Learning Center says: [Volume]\path For example, [MySceneryCD]\MyScenery I've tried that, and quite a few variations on that theme, but simply cannot get...

<t>Thank you Jorge,<br/> <br/> I had more or less come to that conclusion (and for FSX.cfg, which I also looked for of course since it's practically identical in structure and content). I have to say I find the "secrecy" a bit weird - since the actual parameters are in plain text in the file - so it...
