Re: Can PDK services be accessed from an outside application?

If you are use c# as a dll. Do you understand managed and non managed code? You will have to do a lot of marshalling to get things to work. So not only COM, but c and c++ type of programming may be required. Have not tried this myself, PDK is really low level access to P3D. I think you have the conc...

Re: Airplane Introduction Tutorial

The POH (Pilot Operating Handbook) is available from Diamond Aircraft site. I have the LH DA-40 and it works like the real one. also: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNaIeJRVPhg (except the pull circuit breaker ) and it's a diesel engine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvqhYAyrtC4 checklist: https:...

Re: P3D V4.4 NOT LAUNCHING..ERROR CODE DIRECT X 11 ISSUE

I google INVALID HARDWARE OR DRIVER DETECTED and got a lot of FSX Graphics issues and some suggestions: "Try the GOOGLE, Luke" ensure your prepar3D .cfg file has the correct graphics section example [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680.0] Mode=1920x1200x32 Anisotropic=1 Do the suggested deletion o...

Re: How to find the airports ICAO

Can you not use:

SimConnect_RequestFacilitiesList to get a list of SIMCONNECT_RECV_AIRPORT_LIST, which will contain a list of SIMCONNECT_DATA_FACILITY_AIRPORT structures.

Then compare your aircraft lat/lon with the ICAO lat/lon. Pick the one with the smallest difference between the co-ords.

Re: Can you dynamically create waypoints in P3D

So I misunderstood what your ultimate goal was. Creating waypoints is more for AI than the user aircraft. I would create a FlightPlan and do a loadflightplan. Create a template flightplan, and use that to dynamically add the waypoints. But that the same functionality as the flight planner in P3D. Yo...

Don't follow ... you said you created the waypoints. Then list them out?

Re: Can you dynamically create waypoints in P3D

look at

Managed AI Waypoints

in the samples area of the SDK v4

tutorials: look at the SDK Simconnect API overview. It's right there ;-)

Re: Can you dynamically create waypoints in P3D

Yes look at the waypoint example in the SDK. This is how I made my livingworld program.

Look in ver 3 of the SDK and the v4 only has a C# version.

Re: Get ground elevation (altitude) at arbitrary coordinates

I have not used or played with this API, but I assume you request a bounding box (ie a 3D box) with Lat/Lon and min/max alt - so try with min = 0 max = 10000 or maybe your aircraft height. (assume feet). Then you need to examine the response structure. SIMCONNECT_RECV_GROUND_INFO and SIMCONNECT_DATA...

Re: Get ground elevation (altitude) at arbitrary coordinates

Try looking at the SDK. There is a SimConnect_RequestGroundInfo - would that work? Looks new. May or may not work for less than v4.

edit: looks like it's in v3 and v2 too

Re: 4.2 does not appear to support Oculus Rift as described

Personally I would try uninstalling Steam VR and Flyinside. You can always reinstall later. I had an issue with "the other FlightSim" and VR - kept trying to run Steam VR - I uninstalled Steam VR and Flyinside and it worked. I have P3D v4.2 and the Virtual Reality menu appears for me.

Re: Is it possible to program in C# instead of C++

You can use .NET VB and C#. See the examples in the SDK documentation. Simconnect API - Managed Projects. You will need to use VS 2015 or later. If you use VS2017 you will need to set the platform to VS2015. The PDK requires C++ - it's more low level access to the system and it is non-managed code.

Re: Got an Oculus, where do I start?

In order to get things going you need to set-up two sensors with the hand controllers. Then just remove the batteries in the hand controllers. Don't think it works without two sensors. I use Fly Inside, and think it is a great add-on. I have not tried the oculus without it, but i think it works with...
