Re: new exe.xml logic in P3Dv4.2?

Not positive BUT I don't believe you can run an exe file from the addon.cfg or addon.xml file.
Is the path correct in exe.xml file. Check permissions on file? Is it enabled in exe.xml?

Re: PC Keeps Restarting

You mention running multiple stress tests ob CPU, GPU & memory. DId you test them individually or in combination. Get a program called OCCT and run it for at least an hour in the default test - it will stress your CPU,GPU & memory together much as P3D does. I've had systems that have passed other te...

Re: Acronis Active Protection

I disable ANY type of "real time protection" for that very reason. Just about any of the AV, Malware and security suites will try to set that up. For the paranoid out there, unless you are incapable of watching what you click on, you don't really need it - at least not when using the sim. edit - cor...

Re: Landing gear up/down buttons

Well, probably because it's not that important to many. I use FSUIPC to program all controllers so I have an up/down switch but the toggle was just fine with me.

Re: Confusion about High Resolution Terrain textures setting

I agree that it is confusing Bert but the way I understand Beau's post where he says "using HighResolution Textures in combination with T_S_E means that the High Res Textures is sort of a modifier. TSE=8 TSE=8 + HRT TSE=9 TSE=9+HRT TSE=10 TSE=10+HRT To me, in combination with means added to. If HRT ...

Re: Horrible wet ground textures with low visibility!

I have NEVER seen anything like the OP image and I mainly fly in rainy weather and fog. I suspect it's an issue with the individual airports/developer rather than LM.

Re: P3D4 autostart

As far as P#D is concerned, just be SURE it has ended before you exit Windows. Even after the P3D window closes and the icon disappears from the taskbar, if you open task manager you'll see that Prepar3d.exe process is still active. *sometimes* it will close in about 5 seconds, other times it must b...

Re: P3D4 autostart

If P3d doesn't shut down correctly Windows (now) will autostart it on next reboot. I'm guessing either P3D showed you an error or you didn't wait for it to completely unload before shutting down your system. Unfortunately, I haven't found the setting that will disable this "feature". I believe there...

Re: XML-Method clarifications

Thanks both, so it's like it has ever been. And apparently layers from scenery.cfg and add-on.cfg correspond, as in, their layers work "together". But my questions pertain mainly to components. Let's take effects as an example. If addon\scenery\file requests an effect, will it first look in the loc...

Re: XML-Method clarifications

I understand it as follows with respect to priority: Scenery - since you can specify a layer when adding scenery via XML - you control the priority. as far as components, effects, sounds, gauges the XML files take priority over default which is not an issue UNLESS the addon file is the same name as ...

Re: GPWS toggle

I'm pretty sure the TAB key cannot be used in a programmable key assignment like that. The TAB key has it's own function which will take precedence when you first press it. Like trying to use a sequence of ENTER +P. The second you press ENTER you're done.

Re: Do custom LOD values work ?

Rob -

What is the MAX LOD the system will accept? I'm thinking about those who claim hey set it to 9 or 10 by editing the CFG file. Does the system currently adjust these to the nearest valid value?

Thanx,

Vic
