Re: Airline Call Signs

Yes, this can be done using a program called EditVoicepack (https://editvoicepack.com/).

With this program you can add new or update exissting callsigns, ATC phrases, aircraft names (aircraft types), airport names, etc.

Re: surface turbulence

Third party weather programs can be a matter of opinion with some preferring this one over that one. Personally, I don't think you can go past Active Sky. It will do surface winds and it will do turbulence, and a whole lot of other weather related stuff. You can set it up manually (you choose the wi...

Re: Transparent PFD, FMC.

Agree. And OP also did not specifically mention whether they were using 2D panels. Therefore, I too don't think this will be the problem. Nevertheless, it's my experience doing customer support that sometimes people don't specifically mention things and those are the things that turn out be be where...

Re: Transparent PFD, FMC.

Is this in the virtual cockpit, or when you view the panels in 2D? FSX had a panel transparency feature, for zoomed in 2D panels. I wonder if P3D has the same? Here are some details I found in Google about the FSX feature ... ================================= Transparency of Panels (only in 2-D (F10...

Re: Australia time zone problem.

I have P3D v4.5 with HF3. I use a program called " FS Real Time ". Link ... http://www.3dsoftworks.net/products/fsrealtime/ Unfortunately, I have read that this program may not work with P3D v5. But, similarly, I have also read that it has been fixed to work with v5. Therefore, if you are ...

Re: Sound problem

When I first encountered this issue I thought it was only me. Then I saw a post on the Majestic Dash 8 forums about the same issue. They had suggested to check that the default communications device was set to "Do Nothing". In my case it was indeed already set to that. I believe I may have...

Re: Slew Problems

This has happened to me before. Try going in to the P3D settings and disabling your controllers (disable your Joystick) BEFORE you slew. The slew may be receiving input or spikes from the controller(s), thus causing the issue.

Re: Random unwanted engine shut downs

Are you perhaps using the Lorby Si LiveTraffic program? If yes, then see this thread on Avsim here:

Re: Natural Thermal visualization - Birds

<bump>

Perhaps my original post was TLDR ...

All I want to want to know is whether people do, or do not, see the circling birds in P3Dv4.5 to show thermal activity?

Natural Thermal visualization - Birds

I recall seeing plenty of thermals indicated by circling birds in FSX ... (natural thermal visualization setting). But, since my upgrade to P3D (v4.5 with Hotfix 2), I have not seen a single circling bird. Not one. Perhaps this is related to autogen draw distance or special effects settings (mine ar...

Re: ATC no longer recognizing certain Airlines?

To my knowledge, no, the only file used by ATC to recognise the airline names is the "airlines.cfg" file. That said, I should qualify this response by saying that I do not work for LM, and therefore that response could be incorrect. I provide my answer purely because that is the only file ...

Re: I7 8700 vs I7 9700K upgrade question/preformance

Do you use Affinitymask? Since I set it to the first 6 cores only, I get much better performance. Almost no lagging anymore. Of course all machines are different and mileage varies from machine to machine. In my case, no, I don't use AffinityMask. I am extremely happy with the performance I am gett...

Re: I7 8700 vs I7 9700K upgrade question/preformance

I too use the NH-U12S air cooler with the i7-9700K (no overclock). I have a 650W power supply. Running P3D v4.5 HF2. I don't push the P3D sliders all the way up, but they're still reasonably high (as with everything Flight Simulator, find the right compromise of slider settings that work for you and...

Re: game crashing and cant seem to fix it

I've been running P3D v4.5 since about April, after my FSX PC died and I bought a new PC. I was experiencing an issue similar to the OP where the sim would simply close, mid-flight, with no warning, no errors, and nothing in Windows Event Viewer. After a bit of research, I read a thread advising tha...
