Re: Hardware change, p3d

Just my thoughts: Intel's next generation "Rocket Lake-S" seem to be available in march next year: https://www.pcgamer.com/intel-rocket-lake-release-date-confirmed-q1-20212/ AMD's new generation is expected the next weeks: https://www.pcgamer.com/amd-ryzen-5000-zen-3-release-date-specs-performance/ ...

Re: Hardware change, p3d

As far as I know, the recommendation is to disable Multicore Enhancement for extreme overclocking as it runs all your cores with the highest frequency - instead of just one or two cores - and that generates more heat as without MCE, where the Intel defined frequency differences apply (see https://ww...

Re: ATC Menu

As I don't find any "doors.lua", in my opinion it was made by yourself - or copied by you or an aircraft installer of an addon aircraft ?!? Google told me that it may come from a ProSIM aircraft model, e.g. 737: https://www.prosim-ar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15272 or https://prosim-ar.com/forum/vie...

Re: ATC Menu

Hmm...difficult situation. Maybe worth a try if you think it's related to fsuipc: in the P3D main folder, there's the FSUIPC subfolder "modules", it contains fsuipc5.ini for FSUIPC V5 and the lua's (if not defined otherwise by Luapath= in fsuipc5.ini). You could simply rename fsuipc5.ini to fsuipc5....

Re: ATC Menu

Maybe you set the keyboard keys 1... as controllers in P3D or FSUIPC or something else that hides them from P3D ?

Re: Prepar3D.exe process that I cannot close

Cool ! So it seems it was protected as a device handler.
Nevertheless, I would recommend Nirsoft USB devices viewer for problems with USB devices.

Re: Prepar3D.exe process that I cannot close

Are you sure that the process belongs to Prepar3D ? Such "secured" processes belong often to system internal work and killing them may crash or even damage the system. Maybe you post a "tasklist /V" screenshot. If the process is protected, it couldn't be killed. I found a tool KillProcess that state...

Re: Hardware change, p3d

Sorry if I was misunderstood, my observations and measurements lead me to the conclusion that one reason for stuttering are the alterning clock frequencies of the different cores, regardless whether desktop or laptop processor. With default settings, a limited number of cores runs with a higher cloc...

Re: Hardware change, p3d

but still these spikes after 20 to 120 seconds May they result from the Intel Turbo behaviour ? In my FSX times, I found that one of the reasons for stuttering every some seconds was the "on-off" usage of the rendering threads. Depending on the scene complexity and aircraft speed, the rendering isn'...

Re: ATIS as voice element of VOR (NAV audio) simulated ?

I prepared the Bergamo LIME BGL : changed ground to ATIS 114.95 by hex editing. It shows correctly in P3D V4.5 HF2 map but dialing it into NAV1 with NAV1 audio on just plays the morse code. And in the ATC window, it isn't selectable either. So ATIS over VOR seems an unhandled feature (btw. from the ...

ATIS as voice element of VOR (NAV audio) simulated ?

Hi, as https://www.skybrary.aero/index.php/Automatic_Terminal_Information_Service_(ATIS) states, Voice ATIS may be transmitted on a dedicated VHF communications frequency or as the voice element of a navigational facility (e.g. VOR). This seems to be true for Bergamo LIME: https://skyvector.com/airp...

Re: P3D V4.5 reboots

In many cases, unexpected reboots come from hardware problems. So if the problem persists, why waste time by stress testing the hardware with P3D ? Better do stress tests by tools (leaving your pc alone), e.g. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/stress-test-cpu-pc-guide,5461.html. But be careful wi...

Re: Addons

I've only tried to explain why Add-on developers are now less interested in Prepar3D or FSX.
I don't think so, as an old simulator is a money machine for add-on studios too, think about priced addon updates :-)
