Martyson wrote: Wed Aug 12, 2020 12:06 pm Are you suggesting the "old scrap" conversion (labor costs for the studios) to go into a new product (Sim) should be free (no charge) to you?
I've only tried to explain why Add-on developers are now less interested in Prepar3D or FSX.

Re: Addons

A new simulator is a money machine for add-on studios. You can sell all the old scrap again at a conversion cost of 20 percent compared to a new development.

Why don't users switch from v4.4 to v4.5 ?

As an add-on developer, I would like to pass on a positive feature of SimConnect from v4.5 and 5.x to the users. But this is not possible as long as v4 users do not switch to v4.5. What is the key criterion not to use v4.5? If you haven't noticed, v4.5 has been updated over time and now has the numb...

For LM, deviation "AMBIENT WIND VELOCITY"

Since FSX there has been a discrepancy between the wind at the aircraft and the value of the simulation variable "AMBIENT WIND VELOCITY". This deviation occurs on the last mile of the final approach and makes automatic precision landing problematic. The wind speed on the aircraft decreases...

Bug in airplane TTA

When the fuel runs out, a siren sounds. Unfortunately, even if I activated unlimited fuel in the Realism settings.
And who programmed this aircraft totally past the standard? No control surface can be adjusted via the SimVars.

FSTramp new version also for v5

Version 8.2 of the FSTramp add-on is now compatible with Prepar3D v5. If you have already visited http://fstramp.com in the past and you do not see the new version 8.2 now, then clear your browser's cache.

Re: No VR improvements for v5?

Now I'm making myself unpopular. X-Plane offers user statistics http://dashboard.x-plane.com/ And although X-Plane's VR system is better, only 2.06 percent of users use VR. For these 2 percent of users, extreme development effort has to be made, yes that is really a big number to realize a VR system...

Re: Addon installation causing P3D to Launch

I do not know a solution but the start of the simulator is wanted. The setup program of an add-on can make the add-on known to the P3D via command line. The setup program starts P3D invisibly, passes a command line and after processing the command line P3D terminates. But don't ask me for the details.

Re: Future of P3D

The missed release of a version 5 this fall may indicate several things. Maybe LM throws in the towel, maybe they are integrated into the development of MSFS2020 and are already working on the adaptation of their military extension to this new simulator base. One more word about MSFS2020. I think it...

Re: Future of P3D

I was hoping v5 will be released in October, according to the 2 year rhythm.
v3 was released in October 2015, v4 in May 2017, so v5 would be due now.

Re: Does P3Dv4 use any AVX/AVX512 instructions/code?

P3D4 also worked on my old i7-860 and this does not have AVX / AVX2. So P3D does not use this instruction set or only with processors with AVX. However, this case distinction is very complex to implement, so I think it is unlikely.

Re: Custom-built PC advice needed!

This is an overpriced, outdated, specially designed for SLI motherboard. If you never want to make SLI, the 50 € cheaper MSI MAG Z390 TOMAHAWK is better. It has e.g. USB 3.1 Gen2 (USB-C).

Re: Reverting to v4.3

NVIDIA: If the frame rate of the simulator drops sharply, the power management of the GPU slows down prematurely. In the NVIDIA Control Panel, change the option 'Manage 3D settings - Power management mode' to 'Adaptive'.
